        Subject: apologies after an unexpectedly lengthy silence

Dear fellow Humanists,

It was to be a snappy interruption of normal service. Then my laptop
went missing at the airport, recovered only on return to Heathrow. So 
no Humanist mfor the duration of my absence. Then, during an otherwise 
great time away, I came down with a serious cold, leaving me with 
insufficient energy to tackle the pile-up of correspondence. So, while 
still under the influence, I appeal to your kind patience. Slowly Humanist
shall return to normal. Kindly keep your postings close until the backlog 
is no longer.
