Terminology & Ontology: Theories and applications
6-7 June 2024, University Savoie Mont Blanc (France)
http://toth.condillac.org/
A session of the TOTh 2024 conference is dedicated to terminology and
ontology building environments. Five experts in the field will present
four tools: Cmap, Protégé, FAIRTerm, and TEDI
Andrea Bellandi, Italian National Research Council, will present Cmap
(https://cmap.ihmc.us/).
Cmap is a software that allows users to create, organize, and share
concept maps. Concept maps are graphical representations of knowledge
that show relationships between concepts. Developed by the Florida
Institute for Human & Machine Cognition (IHMC), it is widely used in
education, research, and various fields where visualizing and organizing
complex information is essential.
Silvia Piccini, Italian National Research Council, will present Protégé
(https://protege.stanford.edu/).
Protégé is a free, open-source platform that provides users with a suite
of tools to construct domain models and knowledge-based applications
with ontologies. Developed by Stanford University, the software fully
supports the Web Ontology Language (OWL) and RDF specifications from the
World Wide Web Consortium.
Federica Vezzani and Giorgio Di Nunzio, University of Padua, will present
FAIRTerm (https://shiny.dei.unipd.it/fairterm/).
FAIRTerm is a web application designed for the creation and collection of
multilingual terminological entries following the FAIR terminology paradigm.
Its aim is to provide terminological data that are findable, accessible,
interoperable, and reusable. The application allows organizing and structuring
data according to ISO TC 37/SC 3 standards.
Christophe Roche, University of Crete & University of Savoie, will present
TEDI (https://ontoterminology.com).
TEDI is dedicated to building multilingual terminologies whose conceptual
system is a formal ontology. In compliance with the ISO principles on
terminology (ISO 1087 & 704), TEDI implements a term-guided methodology
for building consistent terminologies and ontologies that can be exported
in different formats, including electronic dictionaries and W3C formats.
