Artificial Intelligence and Digital Humanities: Methodological approaches,
theories and methods
Siena, November 4-5, 2025
Keynote speakers: Fredric Clavert, Fabio Ciotti
The Department of Historical Sciences and Cultural Heritage at the
University of Siena is organizing one of the first Italian conferences
dedicated to the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to
the humanities, with the aim of bringing together researchers
faculty, practitioners and students interested in discussing and
sharing experiences, approaches and methodologies in the digital
humanities, with a focus on how AI can be put at the service of
research and education, exploring its impact on the humanities in
an interdisciplinary way and examining its potential and criticalities.
Proposals will be evaluated regarding, but not limited to:
- Data analysis methodologies: use of AI tools (Machine Learning, Deep
Learning, NLP, etc.) for the analysis of historical and literary corpora.
- Research support: new perspectives and solutions for humanities research
using AI, from digital preservation to libraries and archives to automatic
classification of documents.
- Education and training: impact of AI on teaching, training, learning and
innovative educational paths.
- Theories and methods: theoretical reflections on the implications and
methodological approaches in the use of AI in the humanities.
- Classification and information management: perspectives and tools for
historians, archivists, librarians and cultural workers.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS: MAY 15, 2025
Interested authors are invited to submit (by writing to
fabio.deninno@unisi.it and michele.lacriola@unisi.it) an abstract by May
15, 2025. In the proposal, please include: title of the paper; name,
affiliation and contact information of the author(s); keywords
(maximum 5); description of the content, up to 2,000 characters.
