AI4SSH Course (Center for Training and Lifelong Learning, University of
Crete)

The TALOS AI4SSH Lab <https://talos-ai4ssh.uoc.gr/> at the University of
Crete offers a cutting-edge online programme on AI4SSH, designed to
equip humanists and social scientists with future-ready AI skills and
competences.

Course Details

   - Duration: 6 months (September 20, 2025 – April 12, 2026)
   - Total Teaching Hours: 400 (synchronous and asynchronous learning)
   - Language: English
   - ECTS Credits: 16
   - Tuition Fee: €1, 000
   - Application Period: April 1, 2025 – June 30, 2025
   - Registration Deadline: June 30, 2025
   - Scientific Coordinator: Prof. Eleni Katsarou (University of Crete)

Course Structure

The program consists of five modules, each covering a crucial aspect of
AI for the Humanities and Social Sciences:

   1. Introduction to AI, Basic Principles, and Concepts (100 hours): AI
   fundamentals and programming for humanists; Introduction to Python;
   Ontologies;
   2. AI Tools and Applications in Humanities (100 hours): Online corpora;
   Web scraping; Large Language Models (LLMs); AI-assisted research and
   analysis;
   3. Research in the Ancient World and Cultural Heritage through AI (100
   hours): Text encoding; Digital geography; AI in Cultural Heritage studies;
   4. AI and Education (60 hours): Digital literacy; AI in education, and
   curriculum development
   5. AI and Ethics (40 hours): Ethical AI, bias, transparency, and AI’s
   impact on society.
