Since 2017, the Humanities and Data Science Turing special interest group has
encouraged communication and collaborations at the intersection of data science
and the arts and humanities. From their inaugural public event, 'The Place of
Humanities in Data Science' (2018), to their White Paper, to today’s rapidly
changing digital research landscape, they have not only witnessed but also
helped shape the role of interdisciplinary practice in the age of emerging
technologies.

This event, organised by the Humanities and Data Science Turing special interest
group and hosted by the Bodleian Libraries, marks a moment of reflection and
renewal. It will look back at how far the special interest group have come in
building infrastructure, knowledge, and communities of practice, and look ahead
to what’s next. What is the role of the humanities in an increasingly datafied
world? What forms of digital scholarship and collaboration will the next decade
demand? And how do they, as a network, continue to support and shape those
futures?

The panel brings together leading voices from landmark projects that demonstrate
the impact and potential of their ethos. The event will map the current
landscape, celebrate what makes their interdisciplinary approach unique, and
explore new pathways for collaboration between data science and the broader arts
and humanities community. Panelists Panelists include: Dr Rosa Filgueira,
Chancellor Fellow at the EPCC, University of Edinburgh; Joseph Padfield,
Principal Scientist at the National Gallery; Dr Anna-Maria Sichani, BRAID
Fellow, Research Associate in Digital Humanities at the Digital Humanities
Research Hub, School of Advanced Study, University of London; Professor Melissa
Terras (MBE FREng), Professor of Digital Cultural Heritage at the University of
Edinburgh; Dr Charlotte Tupman, Senior Research Fellow in Digital Humanities,
University of Exeter; and Dr Martin Wynne, Senior Researcher in Corpus
Linguistics and the National Coordinator in the UK for CLARIN.
