for attendance in terms of academic degrees, so people less or more advanced in
their career will be welcome as well.

Since there will be a variety of levels, specific knowledge background may be
assumed for some of the courses.

Overall, AIces 2026 is addressed to students, researchers and practitioners who
want to keep themselves updated about recent developments and future trends. All
will surely find it fruitful to listen to and discuss with major researchers,
industry leaders and innovators.

Call for Papers
“Science and Technology in the Anthropocene”

We invite applications to present at an interdisciplinary conference on
the theme of “Science and Technology in the Anthropocene” on April 2 and
3, 2026 at the University of Cincinnati.

The conference is hosted by the University of Cincinnati Department of
Philosophy, the UC Center for Humanities and Technology, the School of
Environmental and Sustainability, the Institute for Research in Sensing,
and the Charles P. Taft Research Center.

Our aim is to bring together philosophers, cognitive scientists, social
scientists, artists, and other humanists to address the topics of AI and
the climate crisis. The main question to be addressed is how to
understand human experience in a world in which there are so many
non-biological intelligent systems, the very existence of which compound
the environmental problems we are facing with their hunger for electricity.

We ask that presentations be largely non-technical and accessible to a
broad but informed academic audience. Our hope is that the conference
will provide a timely opportunity for humanists working in different
areas to engage on this important issue. Possible topics include but are
not limited to:

* Algorithmic bias, justice, and fairness
* Environmental costs of AI
* Embodied cognition and non-biological intelligence
* Art, perception, and kinds of intelligence
* AI governance in the context of the environmental crisis
* Community-based and participatory approaches to technology and
environmental futures
* The role of AI and other technologies in the (cognitive, biological,
physical) sciences

Registration for the conference is free and includes lunches. Travel
stipends are available for PhD students who present at the conference.

The following keynote speakers are confirmed:

* Jelle Bruineberg (Center for Subjectivity Research, University of
Copenhagen)
* Sina Fazelpour (Philosophy, Northeastern University)
* Shen-Yi Liao (Philosophy, University of Puget Sound)
* Shannon McMullen (Art and Design, Purdue University)
* Robin Zebrowski (Cognitive Science, Beloit College)

Please submit an abstract of 250 - 500 words prepared for blind review.
Participants should expect to give presentations of 20 - 30 minutes,
with 10 - 15 minutes for Q&A. Please upload a separate document that
includes your name, affiliation, and contact information.

Please submit abstracts to
humanitiesandtechnology@uc.edu<mailto:humanitiesandtechnology@uc.edu> by
January 15, 2026. We hope to communicate decisions by February 15, 2026.
For catering purposes, we ask that all attendees register for the
conference no later than March 15, 2026.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Second Workshop on Holocaust Testimonies as Language Resources
(HTRes-2026), a pre-conference workshop at LREC2026

Date: 11 May 2026
Location: Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Workshop web page: https://www.clarin.eu/HTRes2026
Submission Deadline: 20 February 2026
Submission link:  https://softconf.com/lrec2026/HTRes2026/

Holocaust testimonies serve as a bridge between survivors and history’s
darkest chapters, providing a connection to the profound experiences of
the past. Testimonies stand as the primary source of information that
describes the Holocaust, offering first-hand accounts and personal
narratives of those who experienced it. The majority of testimonies are
captured in an oral format, as survivors vividly explain and share their
personal experiences and observations from that time period.

Transforming Holocaust testimonies into a machine-processable digital
format can be a difficult task owing to the unstructured nature of the
text. The creation of accessible, comprehensive, and well-annotated
Holocaust testimony collections is of paramount importance to our
society. These collections empower researchers and historians to
validate the accuracy of socially and historically significant
information, enabling them to share critical insights and trends derived
from these data.

The primary objective of this workshop is to explore how various
theories, techniques, and tools from corpus linguistics, natural
language processing, and digital humanities can contribute to the
examination, analysis, dissemination, and preservation of Holocaust
testimonies and other Holocaust-related documents.

The workshop is supported by CLARIN and EHRI.

Please find full details of the call for papers at the workshop web page
at https://www.clarin.eu/HTRes2026. The main conference website is at

Subject: Call for Methods for Social Sciences and Humanities conference - MeSSH 2026

Dear colleagues,

“MeSSH” (Methods for Social Sciences and Humanities) is a new annual conference
whose aim is to create an academic forum focused on discussing methodological
issues and bringing together all disciplines in social sciences and humanities
(SSH).

Digital transformations are profoundly affecting research practices in SSH.
Massive access to heterogeneous corpora, the rise of computational methods and
computing resources, the widespread use of data infrastructures and the
proliferation of collaborative tools are transforming the ways in which
knowledge is captured, produced, analysed and shared. These transformations are
simultaneously enabling the development of new research methodologies and
contributing to the development of more traditional approaches.

Organised by both research infrastructure Huma-Num and Progedo (France) and the
Humathèque du Campus Condorcet, the ‘MeSSH 2026’ conference provides a space for
discussion and reflection on all the methodological issues relevant to SSH
today. The event intends to bring together the entire scientific
community—researchers, doctoral students, engineers, documentation and heritage
professionals.

 This event aims at :
    • promoting exchanges of experiences and practices between scientific
domains, projects and institutions;
    • fostering the structuration of SSH communities working on methods, tools
and infrastructures.
Nine themes will be explored in the conference and structure the call :
    • Web and social media data (coordinated by Christine Barats, Valérie
Baudouin et Sophie Gebeil)
    • Interviews and observations (coordinated by Monica Heintz et Guillaume
Garcia)
    • Mix methods (coordinated by Cyril Benoit et Valentin Brunel)
    • Digitise, model, simulate (coordinated by Xavier Granier et Livio de Luca)
    • Heritage and artistic creation (coordinated by Géraldine David, Xavier
Jacques-Jourion, Sara Lammens, Kim Oosterlinck, Anne-Sophie Radermecker)
    • Sound, images and geolocation data (coordinated by Julien Schuh et Marion
Maisonobe)
    • Surveys and experiments (coordinated by Pierre Mercklé et Solenne Roux)
    • Statistics and causal inference (coordinated by Jean Lacroix et Sophie
Panel)
    • Texts and language (coordinated by Céline Poudat et Anne-Marie Turcan)

The call for paper is now open on
https://messh26.sciencesconf.org/resource/page?id=1&lang=en

Kind regards,

Stéphane.
