Happy to announce the opening a new professorship (at assistant or
associate level) at the Medialab of Geneva:

We are looking for someone who has conducted original research in one or
more of the following dimension of online platforms:
- Technical: platform code, recommendation algorithms, architecture, and
hardware and software infrastructure.
- Economic: business models, monetization logic, the attention economy,
or power relations between stakeholders.
- Cultural and social: Exploration of usage dynamics, online
communities, moderation practices, virality, and engagement dynamics.
- Political: Analysis of regulations, surveillance and moderation
issues, and debates surrounding platform governance and self-governance.

The position is open to all disciplines and theoretical and
methodological approaches. However, a prerequisite for recruitment is
solid experience in empirical and field research as well as an advanced
level of French and English is required.

About This Opportunity 

The School of Communication and Arts seeks to appoint an exceptional
individual as Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Digital
Media. We particularly welcome applications from candidates whose
teaching and research bring together critical analysis and praxis, and
the ideal candidate would also have expertise in one or more of the
following areas: artificial intelligence (AI) assisted digital media
production; digital platforms; digital media analytics; data governance
and data sovereignty (especially Indigenous data sovereignty); and/or
critical perspectives on digital media, power and society. The
successful candidate will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate
programs, supervise Higher Degree Research Students, conduct
high-quality scholarship, foster engagement with external stakeholders
and partners, and contribute to the collegial environment of the School
and University.

Key responsibilities will include: 

   *Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design,
coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and
adhere to university teaching rules.
   *Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research
projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable
journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate
in project discussions.
   *Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and
manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve
conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
   *Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership
through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees,
perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and
uphold university values.
